Overview:

For centuries, traditional cupping therapy has relied on round vessels to create localized decompression, offering relief for a variety of conditions. But, despite their long-standing use, circular cups have a fundamental limitation: they can’t be placed flush against each other. The curved edges leave gaps, creating isolated zones of decompression rather than a unified treatment area.

Enter a new Square Cupping System—an innovation designed specifically to transform how we engage myofascial tissue. With strategically sized square cups, the speaker will show how practitioners can now build a seamless, continuous decompression matrix over targeted structures. This allows for more precise treatment of hypertonic and hypotonic tissues, addressing pain and dysfunction at a cellular level.

In this online course, we’ll dive into:

  • The Myofascial Decompression Matrix — what it is and how it enhances treatment outcomes.
  • Clinical applications of square cupping for both static and dynamic techniques.
  • Yin Yang Cupping: A revolutionary approach combining firm, square cups with soft, round silicone cups — harnessing the best of both worlds for superior results.

Join us to explore how rethinking shape can reshape therapy—literally. The future of myofascial decompression isn’t just evolving—it’s becoming Square.

Speaker Biography

John Stan - Canadian College of Traditional Chinese Medicine

John Stan graduated from the Canadian College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Victoria, BC in 1988 and earned his license as a Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine (DrTCM). While growing his private practice over the years, he has actively participated with professional acupuncture and TCM organizations which contributed to the recognition of TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) and acupuncture as a health profession within British Columbia in 1996.

In addition to his regulatory contributions, Dr. Stan has created and innovated products to help practitioners be more efficient. He has a patent on a dual tubed acupuncture needle delivery system now in use throughout the world. In 2019, He and his partner developed the world’s first Eco-friendly acupuncture needle. Using repurposed materials, and reduced packaging strategies, they were able to reduce needle waste from 60 to 90% depending on the brand being compared. In addition, they created industry first accessories to maintain a clean field around an open multi-needle package such that the needles remained aseptic for hours after opening.
His latest creation is a Square Cupping System that enables practitioners to engage myofascial tissues in new ways compared to the traditional circular cups now being used.

In addition to his product development work, he is also the senior advisor in the quality control department for medical devices and herbal products at Eastern Currents Ltd in Canada.
